Pilates are a set of exercises developed by Joseph Pilates to aid in the rehabilitation of bed-bound World War One prisoners of war, where it is rumoured he used the iron bed frames and coiled mattress springs as inspiration for the Pilates Reformer.
Clinical pilates uses and modifies classical pilates exercises to aid in rehabilitation from injury. Pilates can help recovery from injury by improving posture, strength, flexibility, neuromuscular control, balance and breathing.
There are often small exercises you can work on at home which reinforce the optimal movement patterns that you will learn.
